The biggest benefit from this whole programme has given me a deep sense of confidence in my ability to serve the public and it’s given me analytical skills which I now apply across many aspects of my life. It has been ideal for me as a parent, enabling me to maintain a family work life balance without getting into huge debt or putting my life on hold. Whilst it required discipline, time management and study outside of work hours, the rewards are priceless.

Meet the mother and son nursing duo who graduated on the same day

Andrea and Zac have a huge amount in common. Not only are they mother and son both working for the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPNT), but they graduated with nursing degree apprenticeships from the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ on the same day.
“The course was amazing. It was very different, because you have all your apprenticeship standards to meet alongside the educational modules side of the course. There are off the job hours you must complete and there is an option to do a placement in the last year.â€

So this is an ideal way to train people. You end up with someone who knows all the stuff but works in the way you would like them to work and fits into your practice well.

The programme has provided me with a mixture of clinical based activity but also academic study. So this is an excellent opportunity to apply what you’re learning into a clinical setting. I feel it’s given me much more confidence as a trainee CAP, because I can work autonomously as an individual but also work closely under clinical supervision.

"At school I was told I wasn’t clever enough to be a nurse… but I’ve worked my way up through healthcare, had some outstanding study support, and I know this is what I’m meant to do."
