About Sharon
I have worked at the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ since 2004, commencing as lecturer in Adult Nursing and gaining successful academic promotion to Associate Professor (Education). I have been fortunate to undertake a number of roles, enjoying the diversity and challenge of new opportunities. Engagement with students is the most rewarding aspect of the role, watching their development and achievements throughout their programme/s of study. I continue to engage in practice, working in the Orthopaedic Directorate through an honorary contract; and throughout the COVID pandemic, undertook volunteering, both with NHS Responders as a 'call and chat' responder, and then with a local GP practice as a COVID vaccinator. Â
My pursuits outside of work include horse riding (a passion since childhood), dogs, hence lots of walking, and reading - there is always something new to learn!
Teaching
My main teaching interests are with Acute Care in Adult Nursing; Tissue Viability; Clinical Skills; Mentorship; I enjoy teaching both UG and PG students, and their curiosity and enthusiasm to learn keeps me motivated. .
However, I have many other interests that focus on contemporary nursing issues, such as Leadership in practice & delivery of healthcare in a changing society
