What is student shadowing?
Would you like to live the student experience for a day and see what higher education is really all about? By spending a day with a current undergraduate student, you'll have the chance to see university life for yourself and get an insight into the kinds of courses you could do.
Who is student shadowing for?
Are you unsure which university course is right for you? Are you looking for extra experience to strengthen a university application? Would you like to know more about university? If so, the student shadowing scheme is for you.
The student shadowing scheme at the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ is open to all students from years 12 and 13, as well as any students progressing to the University from our partner colleges.
What happens on the day?
What you'll do on a shadowing day depends on which course you're interested in and the timetable of the undergraduate student you're shadowing. Typically your day will include: lectures, seminars and workshops, spending time in the library and seeing any specialist facilities for your course. You'll also have time to relax in the Students' Union, meet other students and find out about student life and studying your course of interest.
When is student shadowing?
The scheme runs throughout February. If your application to take part is successful, you will be allocated a date within the month. If you are unable to attend the shadowing day on the date that you are offered, we will try and find an alternative date but please be aware that this is not always possible due to the timetables of our undergraduate students.
How can I apply?
Applications for the next cohort will open later in the year and information will be added to this page when confirmed.

FAQs
Do I need to pay to take part?
The scheme is free to take part in and any costs will be reimbursed to you. We also cover the cost of your lunch when you are on campus with your ambassador.
I have been accepted onto the scheme and need accommodation – where will I be staying?
We advise you to book a hotel and there are plenty of options within a short walking distance to our main campus. We will then be able to reimburse any costs for accommodation, so please ensure that you keep hold of any receipts or booking confirmations.
Will I be reimbursed for my travel costs?
Yes, similarly to the accommodation costs, we will be able to reimburse you for any travel costs. Just make sure to keep hold of any receipts or booking confirmations.
Can I attend more than one session?
To ensure that everyone who is successful in their application gets an opportunity to take part in the shadowing scheme, we try to limit it to one session per student.
