The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) are planning a student engagement event for students and recent graduates within health and social care to inspire them into research.
Organised by NIHR Academy, the virtual event will cover:
  • An introduction to research careers and the variety of opportunities available to individuals starting out in their career.
  • Inspiring talks from individuals at the start of their research careers along with more experienced researchers.
  • Opportunities to engage and network with senior and early career researchers (by career/discipline) through tailored breakout rooms.
The event will be open to all students within health and social care but we would particularly like to encourage attendance from apprenticeship, undergraduate, graduate or masters students currently undertaking undergraduate training or who have recently graduated. Through the events, we aim to make a positive impact on groups and professions identified as underrepresented within NIHR.
As a result, we particularly encourage attendance from those aspiring to be:
  • health and care professionals (nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, pharmacists and healthcare scientists)
  • social work and public health professionals
  • researchers in methodology (including health data science)
  • applicants from other groups identified as underrepresented within NIHR, for examples please see the .
Those interested in attending must register on the . Please note the deadline for registration is Tuesday 22 April 2025.
Please also keep an eye on the , our and accounts for updates regarding the event.
